Radical muslim preacher Abu Hamza can be extradited from Britain to the USA to stand trial for terrorism charges, ruled European judges today.

Four other suspects can also be sent to America to face charges related to two bombings of American embassies.

They include Babar Ahmad, 36, a computer programmer who has been in a British prison for eight years without trial.

Seyla Talha Ahsan, Adel Abdul Bary and Khaled Al-Fawwaz - can also be extradited.

All five men are accused of soliciting murder and inciting racial hatred.

Meanwhile a sixth man; Haroon Rashid Aswat, must wait to find out following an adjournment today.

Abu Hamza rose to notoriety as a preacher in Finsbury Park, London, where he delivered sermons in streets full of fundamentalist and blood-curdling rhetoric.

Prime Minister David Cameron welcomed the news during a trip to Japan: Speaking during a trade mission to South East Asia, Mr Cameron said: “I am very pleased with the news.

“It is quite right that we have proper legal processes, although sometimes one can get frustrated with how long they take.”

The decision by the European Court of Human Rights is set to be appealed.

Babar Ahmad’s father condemned the decision, which has been branded a “travesty of justice” by lawyers for the defendants.’

“British justice appears to have been subcontracted to the US - this should be immediately rectified by putting Babar on trial in the UK... and ordering a full public inquiry into the matter,” said Ashfaq Ahmad.
