Big Brother winner Brian Dowling robbed in London at knife-point

TV personality Brian Dowling has told of his terror after he was mugged by two robbers who he said held a knife to his throat.

The Big Brother star, 33, said he felt “physically sick” after he was robbed of his phone and cash close to his home in south-west London on Wednesday.

Dowling told the Sun: “I was terrified. I live in a lovely area, it was only nine at night and was only 30 seconds from my apartment.”

The muggers manhandled him into an alley before holding a knife to his throat, the newspaper reported, prompting Dowling to fear he would be stabbed.

He said they emptied the contents of his wallet, searched his pockets and took his mobile.

“I felt physically sick when I got home,” he added.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: “Lambeth officers are investigating a robbery in Narbonne Avenue, SW4 at 9pm on Wednesday March 14.

“The victim, a man in his 30s, was robbed of his phone and a small amount of cash. No weapon was seen and there have been no arrests at present.”

The Irish-born presenter worked as an air steward before he won the second series of Big Brother in 2001.

He was later crowned Ultimate Big Brother Contestant before going on to present the reality show in its new home on Channel Five.
