Valuable items recovered by police in east London are likely to have been stolen in burglaries in Newham in recent months.

The haul includes a silver-coloured ornamental teapot, foreign notes, medals, and a Wharfedale and Ripspeed car stereos.

Recovered from an undisclosed east London address and from Basildon on June 17, the items also comprise a Creative Zen old-style white MP3 player, mobile phones and a black leather wallet.

It is believed the items could have also been taken from homes in neighbouring Barking and Dagenham and Redbridge, as well as Basildon and Wickford in Essex.

An antique solid sterling silver rabbit rattle with a mother of pearl handle was also recovered.

Det Con Stephen Cross said: “Some of these items clearly mean something to somebody, and we are particularly keen to trace the owners of the teapot and rattle, which could possibly be family heirlooms.”

To assist, please contact Dc Stephen Cross at the Basildon target offender team on 101.
