Scotland Yard said that a body was found at an address in Cadogan Place, Belgravia, yesterday after a 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs.

The man was further arrested in connection with the death and is currently being held at a south London police station.

Mrs Rausing’s husband Hans stands to inherit the £5.4 billion business enterprise built by his Swedish father, also named Hans.

Scotland Yard said the death was being treated as unexplained.

A post-mortem examination was taking place this afternoon.

A Met Police spokesman said: “We believe we know the identity of the deceased but await further confirmation.”
