Jail for homeless man who stabbed Dalston Kingsland train passenger

A homeless man who stabbed a passenger in the chest on a train leaving Dalston Kingsland Station was jailed today (Friday).

Paul Beckles, of no fixed abode, attacked his 36-year-old victim, from Kentish Town, after the two men accidentally collided as they boarded the train through the same set of doors, Blackfriars Crown Court heard.

The 44-year-old threatened the victim and followed him down the carriage before stabbing him twice in the chest and abdomen on April 4 at about 9.30pm.

The victim managed to get out at the next stop, but Beckles chased him around Canonbury Station before running away.

Detectives from British Transport Police released CCTV images of Beckles in an attempt to identity him.

He pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon and was jailed for three years and four months.
