A series of photographs have been issued by the Metropolitan Police of people they want to speak to about looting which broke out in parts of the city.

The images are from the Croydon disturbances, some of the worst which broke out.

Flickr, the photo-sharing website, is hosting a galley of suspects.

Pictures of the alleged looters were taken in Purley Way, London Road, Church Road, South End and Thornton Heath

Work has begun to bring to justice people who run amok last night, a police spokesman said.

“Those who have or intend to go out and commit violent, criminal acts should be warned. We will have photographs and evidence that we will use to identify you and bring you to justice.

“Today we are releasing the first of many, many images of people we will be speaking to in connection with the scenes of violence.

“We will not tolerate the violence that has been seen in parts of London.”

Call the major Investigation Team on 020 8345 4142. Alternatively, phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

  • Meet fire with fire. I support the police in using more brutality. People need to know that there is a genuine risk associated with rioting. No more softly softly.
