A man was shot in Croydon last night, amid some of the worst scenes of violence in London.

Police officers from Operation Trident, which probes black-on-black violence, is investigating the incident.

A 26-year-old is in a serious condition in south London hospital, after being found wounded in Warrington Road, at the junction with Dupass Hilll.

The incident happened at around 9.15pm, as Croydon was hit by some of the disorder seen in the capital city.

Two men in the 20s were also arrested at the scene on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

It is not yet known if the shooting was related to unrest and looting.
