A MOTHER and son have been jailed after a sawn-off shotgun, ammunition and heroin were found in their Stamford Hill home.

Cocaine, cannabis and a disassembled handgun were also found in the Hillside Road home of Violet Allen, 55, and Tyrone Russell-Allen, 18, during a police raid in March this year.

As officers entered the home, Allen directed them to a rucksack in her bedroom in which a sawn-off shotgun, ten live .44 and .45 calibre bullets, and a disassembled handgun were found.

During the search police also found 700g of Cocaine, 2g of Heroin and 10g of Cannabis.

The parent and her son were arrested on the spot and later charged.

Allen, a shop worker, was jailed for two years for possessing a firearm and her unemployed son was jailed for five years for the same charge and for holding ammunition, drugs and parts of a firearm.

Both pleaded guilty at Wood Green Crown Court on Wednesday September 1.

Detective Superintendent Paul Hoare, said: “We will continue to carry out intelligence-led search warrants to ensure that we take firearms off the streets of Haringey and bring to justice those responsible for using, storing, carrying and distributing them.”

Detective Constable Barry O’Rourke, of Haringey’s Crime Squad, said: “The weapons seized during this search warrant may well have been used in the commission of any number of violent crimes had it not been for our intervention.”
