A murder investigation is underway after a the body of a Bexleyheath man was discovered stabbed in Thamesmead.

Prabjot Singh Rayat, 54, of Bexleyheath, was found dead by police at his garage Rayat Autos in Nathan Way at about c 8.45am on Friday.

It is thought Mr Rayat was killed at some point after 3am that morning.

A post-mortem at Greenwich Mortuary on Saturday gave the cause of death as a stab wound.

There have been no arrests and detectives have set up an incident room has opened at Lewisham under Detective Chief Inspector Mark Dunne from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.
