A Metropolitan Police officer has become the 61st person to be arrested in connection with the investigation into alleged leaking of information to the press.
The 51-year-old officer, from the Territorial Policing command based in west London, was detained at around 6am at his home in Wiltshire on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He remains in custody.
The arrest was made as part of Operation Elveden, the probe into allegations of inappropriate payments to police and public officials.
However, Scotland Yard said today’s arrest relates to the suspected release of confidential information but not alleged payment.
