Student guilty of stabbing Kilburn teacher he met through Qrushr iPhone app for gay and bi

An IT student has been convicted of stabbing a Kilburn teacher he met through iPhone dating app Qrushr for gay and bisexual people.

Clifford David, 21, stabbed Chris Telford with a kitchen knife, then bludgeoned the 42-year-old with a hammer in a ‘sustained and determined’ attack at his victim’s home.

Southwark Crown Court heard the Nigerian screamed ‘You killed my mother. Shut up and die’ as he pinned Mr Telford to his bed.

He bit the teacher on the forehead before fleeing the blood-spattered studio flat when neighbours knocked down the door.

Today (Tuesday) he was found guilty of attempted murder.

David met Mr Telford in the summer of 2010 through the gay and bi chat mobile phone application Qrushr.

He visited Mr Telford’s studio flat three times.

The two men then broke off contact in around December 2010, but David returned to the flat on February 15, 2011.

Peter Clement, prosecuting: “It was not a chance passing on the part of the defendant; he had made a conscious and deliberate decision to go to Chris Telford’s flat.2

Once inside the flat David had a drink and when he went to the kitchen to pour himself another one he returned with a knife and attacked Mr Telford while accusing him of killing his mother.

Mr Clement said: “Two neighbours charged in and as the door flew open they saw the Mr Telford lying across the bed with his head over the side of it almost between the sofa bed and the bathroom wall.

“He was bleeding heavily and calling for help.

“The defendant was standing over him.”

David fled leaving his rucksack, jacket, passport and two mobile phones at the flat.

David from New Cross, southeast London, was remanded in custody to be sentenced on March 16.
