The incident happened shortly before 5pm on Saturday.

London Ambulance Service sent four ambulance crews and the London air ambulance.

A spokeswoman said: “Staff treated five patients. One of them was a 23-year-old man, the second was 22, also a man, and then there were two men in their 20s, and there are no details on the fifth patient.”

She said all five were taken to hospital and were said to be “conscious and breathing”.

The Met Police was called to premises in Thornton Heath High Street.

A spokesman said: “A number of arrests have been made in connection with the incident but inquiries are ongoing.”
