Officers were called to Dr Johnson Avenue, Tooting Common, on September 10, where two legs were discovered.

The 36-year-old woman was arrested on Monday on suspicion of concealing a birth. She has been detained for four weeks under the Mental Health Act.

A post-mortem examination took place on September 12 at Great Ormond Street and was unable to find out a cause of death. The newborn baby was white, although police still do not know its gender.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives on 020 8721 4906. If you wish to remain anonymous then please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
