Harry the Squirrel was at the Harold Hill festival on Saturday. Harry was roaming schools and shopping centres across Harold Hill promoting the big day.

It wasn’t the best weather, but that didn’t stop more than 2.000 people turning out for the Harold Hill festival.

The event on Saturday July 6 in Central Park, Harold Hill had no shortage of smiling faces and happy families.

One of the organisers of the event, Julie Pocock said: “It was a day of fantastic fun for all the family.

“It did rain, but we still carried on and it didn’t stop anyone from having fun.”

The festival was a celebration for all families living, working and volunteering in Harold Hill.

Some of the highlights of the day included 100 stalls giving information and advice to people.

There was also entertainment from award winning live acts from across Havering throughout the afternoon.

Youngsters enjoyed donkey rides, falconry and a it’s a knockout competition.

The Harold Hill mascot, Harry the Squirrel was also out on the day meeting and greeting visitors.

The festival was organised by a dedicated team of 30 volunteers.

The day raised £2,000 which will go towards next year’s festival.

Julie said: “There was lots of community spirit.

“Everyone came together and despite the rain we had lots of fun.”
