Schools across Bexley are given 3,916 Olympic and Paralympic tickets to take pupils to watch athletes compete this summer’s

The ticket hand out is part of the scheme to give one in eight of the capital’s pupils free tickets to the 2012 games.

Letters have been arriving at schools today and more are on their way telling them of their allocation and schools will decide how to use the tickets - with pupils being rewarded for good behaviour or sporting achievement.

More than 125,000 tickets have been set aside for pupils as part of the Get Set challenge.

In Bexley 2,009 children will get tickets to Olympic events with a further 1,907 heading off to Paralympic events.

In Greenwich, an Olympic host borough, schools will get 2,035 Olympic tickets and 1,724 Paralympic tickets, offering children the chance to experience the excitement of the games for themselves.

LOCOG Chair Sebastian Coe said: “Today is an exciting day as thousands of schools across London and the UK who joined the Get Set network reward and recognition scheme will find out which tickets they will receive through the London 2012 Ticketshare scheme. The opportunity for young people to see world class sport close up is something that was a core part of the bid and this summer thousands will be rewarded for their commitment to living the Olympic and Paralympic values by having a chance to be part of the Games.”
