Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists joined forces with police to hold a confidence boosting dance workshop for youngsters heading to secondary school this autumn.

FLAVA, a hip hop dance crew who reached the semi-finals of the TV talent show in 2008 and officers from Eastbury safer neighbourhood team (SNT) helped Year 6 pupils at Ripple Junior School, Barking, show off their best moves at the event on March 22.

The aim of the police-funded initiative was to prepare the pupils for secondary school by building their confidence and encouraging them to consider others.

The day also raised awareness of issues such as bullying, anti-social behaviour, gangs and knife crime.

Sgt Lucy Cenizo said: “It was inspiring to see youngsters having such a good time while they learned to examine their own behaviour.”

FLAVA have worked with police forces across the country and received an honorary Philip Lawrence Award in 2008 for their work with young people.
