Cardinal Pole upper and lower schools were united for the first time in a state of the art building as the new term began last Wednesday, thanks to a £26m rebuild.

The Catholic senior school was previously split up on two sites built in the 50s, in Kenworthy Road and Victoria Park Road.

Pupils are over the moon with the red brick building in Morning Lane which was funded by the previous government’s Building Schools for the Future school investment programme.

The four wings of the school are named after Saint Josephine Bakhita, Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Thomas More and Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

“The school is very colourful and spacious which is a very good environment for people to learn in,” said pupil Eunice Oshiguwa.

“The school is very bright and well organised, I like the way the wings are named after very important saints,” added pupil Kate Ohene.
