For one young Hornchurch woman the Olympics represent more than good television – she’s beaten the competition and landed a job pampering the world’s leading athletes.

Robyn Crew, 19, who has completed a beauty therapy course at Havering College, was recruited by the London Hilton on Park Lane. During the Games, she is giving Olympians well-earned beauty treatments.

“I am having an amazing time working at the Hilton,” she said. “I really enjoy every minute of being at work.

“The tutors at Havering College are very experienced and taught me so much. They gave me a lot of confidence.”

Although she’s only been at the Hilton for six weeks, Robyn is quickly getting used to rubbing the shoulders of the stars. A college spokesman said the job had brought her into contact with “a chart-topping singer and an Arab prince” - but that she was sworn to secrecy about their identities.

Havering College’s area head for hair and beauty Lesley Chantler said: “Landing a dream job as a therapist at the London Hilton on Park Lane is a fantastic achievement. Robyn has worked very hard.

“Normally you would need five years’ experience to be considered for a post in a top spa. For Robyn to go straight from college is a credit to the team.”

During her course, Robyn worked at the training salons in Ardleigh Green and Brentwood.
