Parents are being invited to comment on proposals for two Slade Green schools.

The plans include expanding and refurbishing Slade Green Junior School and Slade Green Infant School, of Slade Green Road, Erith.

Both schools will become primary schools with two forms of entry in each year, admitting children aged four to 11 from September 2014.

Slade Green Junior School will become part of Haberdashers’ Aske’s Academy in Crayford, which was recently visited by Prince Edward, enabling its pupils to go there for their secondary school education.

Consultation on the proposals started on Monday (June 11) and runs until Friday June 23.

Cllr John Fuller said: “These proposals will create much needed pupil places in Slade Green, as well as offering a greater choice of primary education and the quality services our pupils deserve.

“It is important that local parents and carers have their say in the changes to their children’s school.”

The plans are part of the wider Slade Green Regeneration Project, which hopes to see the construction of 380 new homes and community facilities.

It was announced in February that the area was one of eight communities in London to receive a £1 million lottery windfall to try and improve one of the most deprived parts of the capital.
