Preston Manor Lower School officially opens its doors to pupils
Staff, pupils and guests enjoyed a double celebration with the opening of a new primary school alongside the Diamond Jubilee.
Preston Manor Lower School in Carlton Avenue East, Wembley, the first new primary school in Brent for four years, opened its doors officially last week.
The £8.5million building boasts state-of-the art classrooms, an ICT suite and a sensory garden with musical instruments and bird tables.
In addition the hall which has a multi-use games area can be used by the local community.
The lower school has two forms of entry - 60 places for reception-age children and 420 places in total for local pupils.
It began admitting children in September last year and is based in the same grounds of Preston Manor Secondary School.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was carried out by the school’s headteacher Matthew Lantos’s mother, Wendy - herself a former reception teacher.
Mr Lantos said: “We are proud to work with Brent Council to provide more school places for local children. We are public servants and are committed to serving our local community.
“As an all-through school, we are excited about the opportunities and rewards from primary and secondary school teachers sharing knowledge.”
