London's Big Fashionista Kellie Hill

Archant

London blogger Kellie Hill shares her insights into blogging and her thoughts about London Fashion Week this year.

Q. Please tell us a little about yourself.

A. I'm Kellie, I'm a 30 something year old blogger with an addiction to coffee, shoes and cigarettes. Yes I know that's bad for me. One day I will kick the shoe habit I promise.

Q. What inspired you to be a blogger?

A. I love to write. Fiction, articles, even shopping lists. Blogging seemed like a great way to be able to write down my opinion without being interrupted every two minutes.

Q. What do you blog about?

A. Everything. I blog about everything, from current events to fashion with a couple of ranty posts about overpaid footballers and untalented singers in between. Funnily enough it is always the ranting posts that inspire the most comments.

Q. How long have you been blogging?

A. It's coming up for three years now, I still feel like a newbie in the blogging world to be honest, as there are always new things to learn. It isn't as simple as just writing words on a page, honest. Sometimes I have to add pictures. It's exhausting!

Q. How would you describe your blogging style?

A. Opinionated. My tagline is: "Just saying what you're thinking." I am the blogger who says "this is isn't right" or "I didn't think this was very good" or that man is a waste of oxygen. You may be thinking it, I write it down.

Q. What does fashion mean to you?

A. Fashion is personal. I am not one to follow trends or make myself look like an idiot just because everyone else is. Fashion is about wearing what you want to wear and having confidence in your own choices. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than wear something just because it's fashionable. Unless pins in the eyes is this season's new high fashion, in which case I will stick to the Peplum.

Q. What's your personal style statement?

A. Does that come in plus size? Is it clean? Ok, NEARLY clean? I don't have personal style. I'm all about substance. I'm also a mother of three so if I get out the door in the morning with my hair brushed I consider that a win.

Q. Who are your favourite London Fashion Bloggers?

A. For London Fashion Week (LFW) I always tend to get annoyed at the sheer numbers of people not there for the fashion, just there to be spotted. The person whose posts I tend to seek out is Jaime from www.boymeetsfashion.com - his photography always captures fashion beautifully.

Q. What are your thoughts on London Fashion Week this year?

A. As always LFW brings out the best and the worst in people. But at least we aren't going to have any slapping incidents, this isn't New York. If it happened here those PRs would slap them right back, they are hungry, just give them an excuse. I dare you.

Q. What does London mean to you?

A. We are at a crossroads, we have just had six months where for once we have been allowed to be proud of ourselves. Jubilee, Olympics the Paralympics and now LFW. I have seen people smiling on the Tube for god's sake. London is full of pride and I'm proud of London.

Q. How would you describe London in 3 words?

A. Exciting, busy and proud.

Q. Do you have some fashion tips that you'd like to share with our readers?

A. Oh god have you seen what I am wearing today? Ok, ladies for god's sake wear shoes you can walk in. I'm bored of seeing women stumbling down the road in six inch heels with an expression of pain on their faces as if they have been forced to sit and listen to Cher Lloyds new album on repeat for four days straight. If you can't walk in them, keep them for the bedroom.
