Two young Havering entrepreneurs are doing their bit to beat the recession after they opened a new café in Gidea Park.

Business partners George Dixon of Gorseway, Rush Green, and William Boden, of Southdown Road, Hornchurch, are both just 20-years-old and have dropped out of college, but haven’t let that stop them from pursuing their business dreams.

The pair opened Café on the Heath, in Heath Park Road, last month.

George said: “We’ve raised the money ourselves – we don’t have any rich history or family.

“We’ve worked tirelessly in our jobs and managed to secure some loans.

“We’ve got the money together between us.

“A lot of people stress about the banks not lending money but at the end of the day we’re 20 years old and have £60k between us.”

He added: “There’s a recession going on and people are saying the banks aren’t lending – but there’s plenty of young people with good ideas.

‘Pie and mash’

The duo want to expand their business and open others too: “We want to get a couple of burger vans and integrate pie and mash and eventually have people running the shops for us.

“As we are so young there’s no reason we can’t become very rich young men.”
