An eleven-year-old girl has been taken to hospital after a collision in Stoke Newington, which caused traffic holdups and buses to be diverted.

The girl was injured when the car she was in collided with another car at the junction between Albion Road and Howard Road shortly before 1.55pm this afternoon (July 16).

Police said she was taken to Homerton Hospital with minor head injuries.

They closed the junction as London Fire Brigade removed the two cars, but said the roads had now been reopened.

The crash caused traffic jams in the Newington Green area and reports have come in that buses had to be diverted.
