Now we are even making the best topical news programme on TV!

The Newham Recorder featured on BBC 1’s award winning comedy news quiz Have I Got News For You last night.

Host Jo Brand and team captains Paul Merton and Ian Hislop and guests enjoyed some Olympics banter over a number of weird and wonderful things, and then highlighted the steps being taken to protect the Olympic brand ahead of the Games.

These included use - or non use - of the Olympic rings and the word Olympic.

They then featured a Newham Recorder story which told the tale of the Cafe Olympic in West Ham Lane, Stratford, which had now changed its name to Cafe lympic!

The programme then showed a shot of the cafe, complete with its full name and address on screen.

Paul Merton joked: “Do you have to book?”

Jo Brand retorted (after the plug): “You probably do now!”

Its the latest in a long line of TV appearances by the Newham Recorder over many years.

Stay with us...because we HAVE got news for you, every week!
