Havering horticulturalists received free water butts to help make their gardening greener.
Essex and Suffolk Water has donated 300 butts to allotment societies including Hornchurch and District, Keats Avenue, Romford Smallholders (Pretoria Road), Romford and District (Heath Park), Mungo Park, Grey Towers (South) and Collier Row and District.
Cllr Andrew Curtin, cabinet member for communities, towns and culture, said: “Allotments make an important contribution to people’s health and wellbeing, and to the quality of our environment and nature conservation – as well as being very enjoyable and hugely popular.
“I am very grateful to Essex and Suffolk Water for this generous donation which will help very many Havering residents,” he said.
Essex and Suffolk Water said the butts would help save more than 1000 litres of water a day from rainfall.
