NHS staff in Newham have said they will be ensuring its “business as usual” during the Olympic when it comes to providing healthcare.

Bosses at Newham University Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust, say they have carefully planned its services throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games period to deliver its normal health services to the people of Newham.

But they are asking patients to plan ahead and be prepared for their visit. It is expected that travelling to and from Newham University Hospital will take longer during the Games, so those with hospital appointments need to take this into account when planning their journeys.

To try and ensure that patients and visitors can park at the hospital during the Games, the maximum stay time in the hospital car park is being reduced to six hours.

The Trust is also asking patients to choose the right service so that people who are very sick can get the care that they need.
