Dinner in swanky Knightsbridge is at number nine on the rankings compiled by Restaurant Magazine, and also the highest new entry.

There is not such good news for Heston elsewhere on the top restaurants list, with his Michelin-starred The Fat Duck dropping out of the top 10.

In 2005 the restaurant in Bray, Berkshire, one of the only restaurants in the UK to have three Michelin stars, was crowned the world’s best but it has now slipped to 13th place.

The Ledbury, in Notting Hill, is the only other UK restaurant in the 50 best restaurants list.

It climbs 20 places to number 14, taking the highest climber award.

According to Restaurant Magazine, the world’s best place to eat is Danish establishment Noma in Copenhagen, which maintains its position at the top spot of the list for the third consecutive year.
