Rioters took advantage of sluggish police reaction

An innovative filmmaker has created a new documentary on the London riots.

With 45 hours of footage after four months of filming, Hornsey-based Teddy Nygh is digging deep to find out why the riots happened in the first place.

Riot From Wrong is being launched tomorrow at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith.

Mr Nygh said the aim of the film was to give “young people and many other people from all walks of life, affected by the riots, a chance to express their views openly”.

He conducted 60 interviews across the country to not only find solutions, but also to highlight some of the positive contributions young people make to society.

Many of these conversations have formed a central part to the sell-out production of The Riots at the Tricycle Theatre, which has now moved to the Bernie Grant Arts Centre.
