Bassist Gene Simmons said it was about “giving more to the fans.”

The sale of the book, entitled Monster, is in aid of Forces charity Help for Heroes.

Guitarist Paul Stanley pointed out: “You could call it a coffee table book, but if you put legs on it is a coffee table.”

The band will also play a live show at the HMV Forum in London to help the charity.

Rachel Josephson of Help for Heroes said the band were “passionate” about the charity’s work and had met several of the wounded veterans.

She said: “They totally get that we need to raise as much as we can for as long as we can.”
