As the Olympic Village welcomed its first guests London 2012 organisers unveiled images of the essential services and facilities athletes will be able to enjoy during the Games.

They include a behind-the-scene look of the state-of-the-art gym, recreation area, multi-faith centre and 24-hour main dining room.

These will be available to the 16,000 Olympic athletes and 6,200 Paralympic athletes and their team officials from more than 200 competing countries during the sporting spectacular.

In the main dining area 1,300 different types of dishes and up to 60,000 meals daily will be served with a McDonalds restaurant, alone, serving 1.2 million meals during the Games.

The menu has been made for multiple tastes and religions. Weather permitting, an outdoor “Street Food” dining area will operate.

The Globe is the main centre of athlete recreation in the Village and will includes a private cinema, stage, bar, music studio, pool and football tables, a computer gaming area, TV’s and Blu-ray Players and a pub garden.

A hi-tech training gym with more than 750 pieces of equipment will be staffed by of over 100 professional personal trainers

The Multi-Faith Centre will serve five faiths by a team of more than 50 chaplains from the different faiths to offer support, pastoral care and spiritual help.

The Village and its apartments and town houses will boast healthcare facilities, information kiosks and essential shops including an internet lounge, bank, ATM and customer payment services, mobile phone outlet and a beauty salon.

Olympic Village mayor, Charles Allen, said, “A huge amount of work has gone into ensuring that London 2012 will deliver a “gold medal” standard Olympic Village that has been designed with the needs of modern performance athletes in mind.

After the Games, the Village will then create a legacy of 2,818 new homes across and an education campus specialising in performing arts, with 1,800 students, aged four to 19.
