Cyclist and social media user SonofthewindsInc records his travels on two wheels in the capital city with a helmet mounted camera.

One of the latest video uploaded to his Traffic Droid 360 YouTube channel has triggered a strong reaction, lifting the spirits of many viewers.

In the two-minute-long clip he spots a man rooting through a bin next to him.

But instead of walking on by and pretending not to see the dishevelled person down on his luck, the cyclist extends a caring hand to him, asking: “are you hungry, sir?”

When the answer comes back “yes,” Traffic Droid offers tells him to take his pick from the food on-sale in an adjacent branch of Boots.

“Get anything you want,” he tells the man. The pair then navigate the self-checkout, purchasing a small number of food items.

More than 52,000 views were racked up of the video between Monday and Thursday, this week.

One viewer called perfectlysparkly posted praise, writing: ‘the news is full of violence and hatred and seeing your video shows that there are many good people out there who care for others. a small token of kindness can make a world of difference. god bless you xx’

A big majority of comments beneath the video hail the act of the kindness, but not everyone thought it was a good idea.

“This guy could have been a rapist/paedophile that has just come out of prison, or anyone of bad character,” posted sgrb11.

“The problem is with random acts of kindness like this, it helps no one apart from anonymous for a couple of hours.

“You’d be doing a more valuable service by ignoring the guy rustling through the bin, and donating your few quid to a decent charity.

Cameraman Traffic Droid, who also goes by the name of SonofthewindsInc on YouTube, revealed he was stung by a previous incident in which he walked on by a person in need.

“I have been criticised for ignoring a Vagrant in a video earlier because I was distracted...and for all those critics..maybe I should ask was it food or something else he was after? Thank you for your very kind praise..I think the next group I see, I will buy each a Hamburger with fries..:O)”
