Sam Dempster, 27, collapsed during a run in the famous London green space.

The lawyer, who writes a blog called Heart-throbbing, suffered a cardiac arrest.

Hoffman called for an ambulance and waited at the scene for emergency crews to arrive.

After paramedics Martin Macarthur and Luke Sullivan restarted Mr Dempster’s heart, the 74-year-old said: “Great job, guys,” it was reported in The Sun.

Writing on his blog , Mr Dempster hailed Hoffman and the paramedics.

“A big thank you also to my new found favourite celebrity Dustin Hoffman who called 999 and waited by my side until paramedics arrived and the staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital that stabilised me before I was transferred to the Royal Brompton Hospital,” he said.

One of Mr Dempster’s friend retold the event in another post on the blog.

“Dustin Hoffman was one of these bystanders.

“He immediately called the emergency services.

“A paramedic crew were nearby at Hyde Park Corner and immediately dispatched themselves.

“The paramedics, Martin and Luke, found him unconscious and with a fast, irregular heart rhythm (ventricular fibrillation).

“Pulseless for several minutes, in cardiac arrest, Sam was successfully defibrillated at the scene.”
