The Duke of Edinburgh left a London hospital today after spending five nights there with a bladder infection.
Asked by reporters waiting out the King Edward VII hospital in Papworth if he felt better, Prince Philip replied with a nod.
He waved to well-wishers before climbing into a waiting car to take him to Sandringham Castle.
It means he can now spend his 91st birthday with family. A royal spokesman said it would be a private occasion.
“The Duke of Edinburgh continues to make a good recovery and he will continue his convalescence at home,” a Buckingham Palace spokesman said.
“He will spend the weekend privately.”
