The lorry driver who died in Noak Hill when his HGV collided with the back of another lorry has been named as Kulbip Dhillon of Grays, Thurrock.
Mr Dhillon, 57, died of burns, the post-mortem revealed.
Both vehicles involved in the crash caught fire. Six crews, including one from Brentwood, fought for nearly two hours to put the blaze out, along with an urban search and rescue team and an incident command centre from Clacton.
The incident happened at about 1am on Friday (May 25th) between junctions 27 and 28 on the clockwise carriageway of the M25, causing closures and delays well into the morning – made worse when a second, minor crash happened at about 5am on the A414 at North Weald.
The driver of the second lorry in the M25 crash escaped with minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.
Officers from the Met’s Road Death Investigation Unit, based at Chadwell Heath, are looking into the incident.
