Man found stabbed in Rainham warehouse is identified

A man found with a stab wound in a Rainham warehouse on Saturday has been named by police.

Petras Miernykas, 49, originally from Lithuania, was discovered in the building in New Road at around 9.45pm. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination today gave his cause of death as hypothalamic shock.

A murder investigation is under way. Anyone with any information should contact 0208 358 0400 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A 45-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody at an east London police station where he remains.
