The pop-up tea party passes across Albert Bridge

Londoner’s were surprised to see a tea party taking place on a horse-drawn Victorian carriage.

Marie Curie Cancer Care’s London fundraising team held a pop-up tea party to launch their Blooming Great Tea Party campaign.

The decorated carriage travelled from Battersea Park, over Albert Bridge, up to Trafalgar Square to Covent Garden before returning back to Battersea Park.

Jeni Day, Marie Curie Cancer Care community fundraiser, said “We hope our unusual tea party will inspire others in London to hold a tea party for Marie Curie this summer.

“As we’ve shown, you can get creative with how you hold your tea party or it can be as simple as a cuppa with colleagues.

“The important thing is the money raised from Blooming Great Tea Parties will help more Marie Curie Nurses in London to provide more free care to people with terminal cancer and other terminal illnesses in their own homes.”

There are lots of ways hosts can raise money at their tea party, such as asking people to donate to come, by holding a bake-off and asking bakers to donate to take part or running a cupcake and biscuit decorating competition.
