People have been warned to expect periods of torrential rain and the chance of localised flooding in London today.
Met Office forecasters have issued amber ‘be prepared’ alerts for increased wind and rain until late afternoon.
The gusty conditions are expected to clear northwards from the south-east by the evening.
David Jordan, from the Environment Agency said: “We strongly urge people to sign up to flood warnings, keep a close eye on local weather forecasts and be prepared for the possibility of flooding.
“We also ask that people stay safe, by staying away swollen rivers and not attempting to drive through floodwater.”
