Mobile tea room comes to Mile End to get people to slow down along Regent’s Canal

A mobile tea room is coming to the East End tomorrow to encourage residents to slow down and enjoy the towpath along the Regent’s Canal.

A team of volunteer towpath rangers from The Canal & River Trust

will also be by the Palm Tree Pub, in Mile End Park, along the Regent’s Canal for their first event promoting their new ‘Share the Space’ campaign.

The campaign is urging people to consider others when using London’s towpaths by sharing the space, dropping their pace, always being courteous to others and remembering that pedestrians have priority.

Towpath ranger Dick Vincent said: “East London’s towpaths are loved by walkers, cyclists, boaters and anglers alike. We want to encourage everyone who enjoys the canals and rivers to follow the new Greenways Code for Towpaths and make the most of the time they spend there.

“Come along and have a chat with us to find out more about the East End’s fantastic historic waterways and how to get involved in keeping them special places.”

Cyclists and walkers can buy traditional cream teas and cakes from Braithwaites, a the mobile tea room normally based at Camden, during the event from 2-4pm.
