The train caught fire between Lee and Mottingham

An investigation has been launched because a train fire between Mottingham and Lee is believed to have be started deliberately.
More than 200 people had to be evacuated from the 8.52 from London Charing Cross to Gravesend.
The blaze damaged the first coach in the eight carriage train and crews from Downham, Lee Green and Eltham attended the incident.
Detective Inspector Ashley Cooper said: “We’re keen to talk to anyone who may have information about the incident, particularly two men who were seen running from the scene.
“If you were in the area at the time, I urge you to come forward as you may be able to help our investigation.”
