On Monday afternoon 391 residents in Rosebery Avenue, Sidcup, including 121 children held a party.

Richie Smith-Gore, 40, one of three organisers estimates 85 per cent of the houses in the street got involved.

He said: “Everyone had a good time and we were completely exhausted afterwards. It went on much longer than we expected.

“The street was really up for it and it was a chance to get together and show our appreciation for the Queen.”

All the children were presented with commemorative mugs to mark the occasion.

The Holy Redeemer Church of England in Days Lane, lent tables and chairs, and there were bouncy castles to go with traditional and non-traditional party games, including three-legged and egg and spoon races, a tug o’ war – and a mums’ micro-scooter race.

Mr Smith-Gore said: “When the party finished at 10pm everyone mucked in and helped with the clearing up. I used to work in event management and I never had this many people offering to help after an event.”
