A student has died after falling from a window in a halls of residence in west London, a university has confirmed.
The man, believed to be a first-year biomedical student at Brunel, was pronounced dead by paramedics outside the campus building in Uxbridge yesterday lunchtime.
The university said his parents have since been informed, and fellow students are receiving counselling.
In a statement it said: “We regret to announce that a man has died after falling from a building on the Brunel University campus.”
They said police and ambulance services were called to the scene outside the Bishops Complex halls of residence.
A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called just after 1pm to Kingston Lane in Uxbridge to reports of someone who had fallen from a height.
“We sent a London Air Ambulance as well as an ambulance crew and two single responder cars to the scene.
“However, sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor from the air ambulance.”
Police said officers were investigating the incident and a post mortem would take place in due course,
A Brunel University spokesman said this afternoon: “The parents of the student who died after falling from a building on Brunel University campus on Thursday have now been informed.
“Students and others affected by the event are being cared for by Brunel’s Counselling Service in the Meeting House, between the Marie Jahoda and Gaskell buildings.
“We will provide further information when we are able.”
