Man found dead in Southwark flat is named

A man who died of asphyxiation in Southwark has been named.

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of Andrejs Ivanovs, 30, of Frederick Road.

The Latvian national was found in a flat in Frederick Road on Sunday at around 10.35pm by officers who were called to reports of a disturbance.

Mr Ivanovs was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem on Tuesday at Greenwich Mortuary gave the cause of death as asphyxia - compression to the neck.

The Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating. A 22-year-old man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder and remains in custody pending further enquiries.
