Stephen Andrews, 46, of Old Oak Lane, Harlesden, died on Sunday.

Police were called at around 12.30am on that day to a fight near the Duke’s Head pub in Lower Richmond Road, Putney.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene and Mr Andrews was taken to St George’s Hospital suffering serious head injuries.

He was pronounced dead shortly before 6pm.

A post mortem on Monday at St George’s Hospital gave the cause of death as severe head injury.

Officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating and an incident room has opened at Hendon under Detective Chief Inspector Matt Bonner.

A 28-year-old man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder after attending Exeter police station. He has been bailed to return to a north London police station in late February pending further enquiries.

DCI Bonner said: “We are still appealing for anyone who was in or around the area of the Duke’s Head pub in Lower Richmond Road after midnight who may have seen or heard anything to call our incident room or Crimestoppers.”

Anyone with information call t 020 8358 0200 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
