Patrick Lawless, a physical education student from Twickenham, was found at around 12.30am on Sunday, November 11 in Field Lane, Teddington.

The 20-year-old was taken to Kingston Hospital where he died a short time later.

A post-mortem examination gave cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head.

Two men, both aged 20, were arrested near to the scene on suspicion of assault and taken to a west London police station. Both were later bailed to return in mid-December pending further enquiries.

Later that day a 21-year-old man was arrested at a residential address in Richmond. He was taken to a west London police station and later bailed to return in mid-December pending further enquiries.

On November 12 a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and later bailed to return in mid-December pending further enquiries.

On November 16 20-year-old man was arrested at his home address in south London. He was bailed to a date in January.

Officers are linking the murder to an incident in Teddington High Street that took place on Saturday, November 10 at around 9.50pm, near to the Royal Oak pub.

Two men were taken to hospital. The first victim remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition while the second sustained minor injuries and was discharged following treatment.

An incident room for both incidents has opened at Sutton under Detective Inspector Tony Bishop from the HSCC.
