The teenager is in a stable condition in hospital after being set upon by a group of youths in north-west London.

Police investigating the attack said the suspects fled on foot after the incident near the entrance to the Holiday Inn Express Hotel in Finchley Road.

Officers have yet to make an arrest over the attack, which happened at 7pm on Saturday.

“We must retain an open mind on any motive and the full circumstances at this early stage,” a Scotland Yard spokesman said.

Witnesses are asked to call the Camden violent crime unit on 020 8733 6581 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
