The rest of the line is also delayed as a result of the incident, which took place at around noon. Mile End station remains closed.

A British Transport Police spokesman said the incident was currently being treated as non-suspicious.

He said: “BTP officers were called to Mile End London Underground station on Tuesday, January 29 after a report of a man being struck by a westbound Central line train.

“Medics from London Ambulance Service also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
