Londoner of the Day is a fashionable choice with her finger firmly on the style pulse – Alexa Chung; newly appointed by the British Fashion Council as a national cheerleader for the industry; currently flaunting itself in the capital city at London Fashion Week.

To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.

Ms Chung, who previously dated the singer in not-as-fashionable-as-before indie band, the Artic Monkeys, hailed London as the best place on the planet for fashion.

Now the TV presenter and model is set to be a familiar fixture next to catwalks and runways in the coming days, during London Fashion Week.

No doubt the Council will be chuffed that their Ambassador is putting in the long yards; researching her subject thoroughly at glitzy shows and parties.

Explaining what landed her the role, Ms Chung said: “I adore fashion and am proud that it’s now officially my job to champion those London designers both new and established that inspire me so much.”

“I always name London first when asked which city in the world has the best style,” said Ms Chung.

“There’s something so inherently rebellious about how people naturally style themselves.

“Brits aren’t afraid to experiment or take risks with how they look, perhaps that’s why London has always been home to the most dynamic and daring designers in the world.”

London24’s Londoner of the Day aims to find people in the capital who have done something special or made the news and created a talking point for the day. It can be someone famous or an unsung hero such as a charity stalwart.
