Londoner of the Day goes to Great Ormond Street hospital - on the 160th anniversary of its foundation in the capital city.
The hospital in Bloomsbury is a famous name and world-leader in the field of research of children’s illness.
Celebrities flock to fundraising events held in aid of the hospital, which today boasts the most specialists across different fields in the UK.
Charity is vital in order for the important work of the hospital to continue and there is long history of generous benefactors happy to fund its work – way back to when author J M Barrie donated the copyright of his children’s classic Peter Pan to Great Ormond Street.
More recently, X Factor finalists recorded a version of You are not alone by Michael Jackson to the Hospital Children’s Charity.
For providing a life-saving service of some of the most vulnerable members of society for 160 years, Great Ormond Street is Londoner of the Day.
