The heads behind the London on the Inside blog share some of their cultural nous and provide some top tips on things to do in the capital.
A blog dedicated to covering every inch of London, these guys really do know our city inside out. In their own words, Londontheinside "was set up out of a love of London and desire to share this love with others. We all work in the industries we write about and we hope that our inside knowledge and passion comes through in our posts."
Where's your favourite low-key hang out for a London gig?
We like the Hoxton Bar and Kitchen because the separate bar area is ideal for grabbing a drink before a show and working up that pre-gig excitement. Hidden at the back is a great little venue which is well set up for bands and punters. We've seen a host of bands play here before they have 'made it' and even when we've popped down to see one band in particular we usually discover another couple of belters.
Where in London do you head for the best pizza?
We live just along the road from a take-away pizza shop called La Barca which serves traditional Italian thin and crispy style pizzas. The pizzas are pretty decent, but the best thing about them is that you can take them into The Shakespeare pub next door and enjoy them with a pint or glass of vino. Plus it's buy one, get one half price all day every day. Other than that Pizza East is usually a safe bet and The Globe on Columbia Road is cheap as chips and a great spot for people watching on a Sunday arvo!
Where do your head for the ultimate London cocktail?
We've been big fans of The Zetter Townhouse since it opened and it still serves up some of the best cocktails in London in very quirky surrounds - we're else can you enjoy a tipple with a full sized kangaroo watching over you? Bob Ricard's rhubarb gin and tonic is also in our top ten as is the espresso martini at Dean Street Townhouse and Off Broadway do some great concoctions.
Where do you recommend for a decent breakfast?
Kopapa in Covent Garden has an excellent breakfast menu; the Turkish eggs and ricotta fritters are our highlights and the smoothies and juices are also worth a mention.
For a cheap weekend fix we'll head to Cafe Z Bar for the mixed menemen or full English or for something more healthy we'll pop to Fran and Fred for one of their bacon sarnies with slow-roasted tomato and aioli or a homemade banana bread with lemon curd washed down with what we'd say was the best coffee in Stoke Newington.
What's the best pub in London?
We love the Shacklewell Arms in the depths of east London, it's full of cool creatures and you can catch some great bands here most nights of the week, shoot some pool or end up in the garden meeting all kinds of people.
When the Shacklewell closes, we'll usually head to EFES which is a pool hall with a bar serving beers in cans and mixers from two litre bottles - just like the 80s! It has a bloody great atmosphere and doesn't shut up shop until the late hours of the morning. We're also fans of The Hawley Arms, The Griffin, Jugged Hare and The John Snow.
Who is your favourite London fashion designer?
This is a hard one. We absolutely love Vivienne Westwood - who doesn't? We have been rocking a lot of Christopher Kane these last couple of years and, judging by this season's collection, which is bang on trend with neon colours and patterned fabrics, we can't see that changing anytime soon. There is also Sarah Burton for McQueen, who has done a fantastic job since taking over the throne and Gareth Pugh who we'd dress in every day ... if only we had the money!
