Spitalfields is one of the areas chosen as part of London Mayor Boris Johnson’s Stroll - Discovery Trails’ Project.

Six unique walks have been created for the Olympic Games weaving their way through the capital. Eighty-three official Olympic Mascot sculptures feature along the trails.

The two-metre mascots have been designed to reflect the areas and its people with the one situated in Bishops Square, marking the finishing point of one of the walks, dressed as a Pearly King. Others around London are dressed as a Beefeater and Big Ben.

Mr Johnson said: ‘Wenlock and Mandeville are instantly recognisable characters. I can’t think of a more suitable pair of tour guides.”

Smartphone users will be able to scan a code on the base of the mascots to discover more about the trails.
